What is the Best Yarn For Crochet Coasters?
There is some debate in the community about what the best yarn to use for crochet coasters is. Many will recommend that you use only cotton yarn for your coasters due to it’s ability to be exposed to heat.
However, the level of heat coming from the average hot mug is usually not sufficient enough to melt acrylic yarn so if can be used for coasters as well.
Wool yarn is naturally flame/heat resistant and can also be used to make coaster. Though wool does tend to be pricier than the other two options, since you don’t need much yarn to crochet a coaster, you could use some scrap yarn left over from another project.
Whatever type of yarn you choose for your crocheted coasters, I recommend that you ensure it is machine washable.
