However, it’s worth noting that this collection of crochet motifs were previously published in 100 Crochet Tiles (2022) – check out my review of 100 Crochet Tiles here. While the patterns and stitch diagrams are the same, the diagrams in this book are smaller and sometimes tricky to read.
The patterns use a combination of stitches and techniques so they keep even advanced crocheters interested. From flower motifs to modern abstract designs, there is a great variety of different techniques. The Clematis tapestry crochet motif found on page 41 is one of my absolute favorites.
Crochet Terminology
All patterns are written in US crochet terms, and a handy table of equivalent UK terms is provided on page 2.
Skill Level
The book doesn’t specify skill levels, but based on the necessary crochet techniques used, I’d categorize these patterns as intermediate to advanced.
Beginners looking to try these motifs might need to lean on additional resources like video tutorials to master puff stitches, cluster stitches, and more.

Supports Included for Makers
At the beginning of the book (pages 2 – 3) you have the abbreviations used in the patterns as well as a legend explaining the crochet chart symbols.
The back of the book (pages 42 and beyond) contains a reference guide with written step-by-step instructions for necessary stitches and techniques like double crochet, sl st, and treble crochet.
While these resources are helpful, they are not exhaustive. Advanced crocheters will appreciate the crochet charts, but beginners may find the smaller diagrams and basic stitches section less supportive for first-time attempts.
Supplies Needed
The patterns in this book require 3.5mm (E) and 4mm (G) crochet hooks and sport or DK weight yarn. Because these motifs use small amounts of yarn, they’re a great way to use scraps and experiment with your color palette. Yardage information for the patterns is not provided.
Where to Buy Crochet Flower Squares and Motifs
You can purchase Crochet Flower Squares and Motifs here on Amazon or other online stores.
Overall
Crochet Flower Squares and Motifs is a stunning collection of decorative crochet tile patterns, perfect for creating granny flower squares and different shapes to join to create larger projects like blankets or shawls. It’s a great project book for intermediate to advanced crocheters who want to explore flower tile designs, hexagon-shaped motifs, and traditional granny squares.
However, if you’re choosing between this book and 100 Crochet Tiles, I recommend the latter for its greater variety (more than triple the number of motif / square designs) and inclusion of patterns that integrate the tiles. If budget isn’t an issue, 100 Crochet Tiles offers a more versatile resource for your crochet library.
