This entire blanket is made with easy crochet stitches and has a simple repeat making it a great option for crocheting while binge-watching your favourite show or movie. If you don’t want to have to weave in your ends, you can make this blanket in a solid color. When adding a new color to your blanket, the color changes will always happen at the end of the row, using the last yarn over of the stitch. Make sure that you leave a long tail that you can weave in when you do this as Bernat Blanket Extra yarn (which is a chenille yarn) has a tendency to unravel sometimes.

I named this blanket the Eleventh Hour blanket because I designed it because I neede a last-minute Christmas gift for someone. I didn’t have a lot of time so I knew I’d need a large hook and some jumbo or bulky yarn to make a big blanket fast. In all honesty, I had kind of forgotten that I need to make this gift and when my husband reminded me, it was a mad dash to get it done. I made my whole blanket in a matter of 2 – 2.5 hours. I know I’m not the only person during the holiday season that finds themselves in this scenario so I figured this would be a great project to share with you in case you find yourself in a similar situation.

How Many Balls of Bernat Blanket Extra Yarn Do I Need for a Blanket?

This Bernat Blanket Extra blanket pattern uses 5 skeins of yarn – 3 skeins of the main color (in this pattern, Smoky Green) and 2 skeins of the accent color (for this pattern, white – use your favorite colors to match your decor). Each ball of Bernat Blanket Extra yarn contains 97 yards / 87 meters. If you’re crocheting this project to gauge and exactly as written, you will have a small amount of yarn left over. Gauge is optional for this chunky throw blanket however, it will affect how much yarn you use so keep that in mind.
