The theme of Two-by-Two Crochet is crochet patterns that use two colours and two row repeats to create a design. Two-by-Two Crochet contains 8 different patterns using two colourways of yarn per design. One may make the assumption that the patterns in this book may look relatively simple but these designs are anything but. The designs in Two-by-Two Crochet are fun, textured designs with a high-level of visual interest to them. The designs range from hats to ruana scarves, blankets and ear warmers.

The patterns in this book are all rated as intermediate level. Post stitches are utilized heavily in these designs to create texture and visual interest. The designs are beautiful and interesting to execute. They could be done while binge-watching your favourite show, as long as you’re still able to pay attention to make sure you’re not accidently using a back post stitch when you should be using a front post stitch.

A variety of yarn weights are used in the designs from fingering to super bulky. The yarn brands utilized are easily accessible yarns for most North American readers. You may even have some of the yarns used already in your stash so you could potentially get started right away.

In the back of the book is a brief and clear reference section which is handy to have. I enjoyed the addition of a blank notes section for you to make any notes you may wish to make on the pattern, yarn selection etc.

As mentioned above, the patterns are rated as appropriate for intermediate level crocheters which I think this book would be perfect for. Two-by-Two is filled with patterns that are easy enough to crochet while watching TV but with enough interest to prevent you from getting stuck or bored.
