Finished Size:

  • To fit Advent Adam & Addy dolls – 10” tall dolls

Gauge:

  • Clothing: 4 sts across x 6 rows = 1” square

Notes:

  • These clothing and accessory patterns are designed to fit my Advent Adam and Addy dolls.  Gauge is important for ensuring that your doll clothes fit your doll appropriately.  If you don’t plan to match gauge, ensure that you maintain a consistent tension throughout each project.  Using the same yarn line and hook throughout each project can also assist with minimizing gauge/tension changes.

  • For a cleaner SCDEC on pieces worked in continuous rounds, do your SCDEC under the front loops only of each ST rather than under both loops.  This is often referred to as an invisible decrease.  Check out my invisible decrease tutorial on to see it done.

  • For pieces worked in turned rows, use a normal SCDEC stitch instead of the invisible decrease.

  • Colour changes are done using the last YO of the previous stitch (except where otherwise indicated).

Week 20: Superhero Costume

crochet superhero doll wearing a mask and running shoes on a white background

This week we are finishing off our superhero ensemble but crocheting the superhero costume.  We will start our costume by crocheting the first leg of the pants, followed by the second leg.  Then we will join the legs together and work the remainder of the body of the costume.

There is a lot of shaping done in this piece so make sure to keep track of your stitches with a stitch marker and count the number of stitches at the end of each round to make sure you’re on track.

While I’ve used different shades of blue yarn for my superhero costume, there are lots of fun color combinations that you could use.  Use red yarn and blue yarn as your main colours, green and orange, yellow and red – the options are endless.

If you’re not sure what to use, google superhero costume colors and you’ll find tons of inspiration for colors to use.

I’ve created an emblem to put on the front of your doll superhero costume but I have left if blank – free of embroidery or embellishment so that you can add a little detail to it on your own.  You can use embroidery, felt, buttons or stitch on patches to add a special superhero logo or image.
