Crocheting With Chaos Fiber Co. Freckles Yarn

I loved the colour of the Blue Sage Tonal Freckles yarn so much that I could not wait to cake it up to try it out. I did two swatches for this yarn, one in basic crochet stitches and another in tunisian. If I hadn’t been so sick at the time I was swatching, I probably would have just kept swatching.

Crocheting with Chaos Fiber Co. Freckles yarn was a pleasure. I did not experience any splitting, the yarn was smoothe and soft to work with and created a beautiful fabric. In the first swatch pictured below, I used a 3.5mm (E) crochet hook and started with some rows of single crochet stitches followed by some rows of half double crochet and then double crochet stitches. Although I normally prefer a nep-free fabric, the neps are actually really beautiful in this fabric.

The next swatch was done with a 5.0mm (H) Tunisian crochet hook, using basic tunisian crochet stitches: tunisian simple stitch and tunisian knit stitch. With this yarn, the simple stitch, looks anything but simple. The texture is gorgeous and it has a really nice stretch to it (check out the video to see the stretch and how nicely it bounces back). I think this yarn would make an incredibly comfy sweater, especially in one of these tunisian stitches.

The above crochet swatches were washed and blocked according to the instructions on the yarn label. I didn’t experience any bleeding dye or any notable shrinkage. The swatches washed and blocked beautifully and I loved the resulting fabric.

Handmade Quilted Project Bags

I also got to check out one of Chaos Fiber Co.’s handmade project bags. I have taken this bag with me EVERY. WHERE. since I got it. The bags are quilted and have a fun printed fabric on the top. She has

Inside the bag, there are generously-sized pockets that are perfect for holding your notions like scisssors, stitch markers, patterns and more. I was able to fit 5 caked hanks of fingering weight yarn in this bag (it’s the medium size), plus notions on a trip out one day.

There are also two “yarn seat belts” which are little loops inside the bag that have snaps on them. I wasn’t sure what they were for at first and have been using them as yarn guides. But when I looked it up, it turns out I was using them correctly. When you’re working colourwork projects, it keeps your yarn from tangling – talk about handy! The bags also have handy wrist straps for carrying.

The craftsmanship on the project bag is impeccable and despite the bag being used extensively for over a month, it still looks brand new! The snaps and zippers used on the bag are high quality and durable. I have thoroughly enjoyed using this project bag and expect that it will be a favourite for years to come.

Overall, I loved both the yarn and the project bag that I got from Chaos Fiber Co. On their website, they also sell crochet and knit patterns, yarn mini kits, notions and more. If you’d like to check them out, you can find Chaos Fiber Co. only at the following links:

  1. I can never find the King Sumo giveaway form. The only explanation I have is that it might be a pop-up, and those are blocked here. This has happened before.

    • Hi Karen,

I’m sorry that’s happening. I’m not sure why that has happened. Perhaps it has something to do with the pop-up settings you mentioned. It isn’t a pop-up but it is embedded onto the page but perhaps it is being blocked regardless because of the way it is added. In the future, if you cannot find the form and want to enter the giveaway, please send me an email prior to the closure of the giveaway and I will manually add your entry.
