Crochet dishclothes make great gifts and since it’s the holiday season, I thought I’d share an easy crochet dishcloth pattern that can be whipped up quickly and can be appreciated by anyone, whether they have a farmhouse style kitchen or not. This farmhouse crochet dishcloth pattern uses a two slight variations of double crochet stitches to give this pattern great drape and texture. In this post you’ll find the written instructions and a step-by-step video tutorial so if you’re a beginner crocheter, you can follow along with me as I make an Ava Crochet Dishcloth.

This crochet washcloth pattern is made using variations of simple stitches and is a great pattern to work on while watching t.v.. The combination of stitches used (herringbone double crochet and crossed double crochet stitches) give this project a classic texture. Make sure to check out the section on special stitches so that you can hit the ground running.

What is the best yarn for crochet dishcloths?

The best yarn to use for crochet dishclothes is cotton yarn. My personal go-to is WeCrochet’s Dishie yarn which is a worsted weight cotton yarn. It is delightful to crochet with and comes in a wonderful array of different colors – both solids and twist colors. Their gorgeous cotton yarn colors make it easy to match the recipient’s decor if you’re planning on using this crochet project as a gift. If you don’t have Dishie on hand and want to use some yarn from. your stash, you’ll need at least 63 yards of your favourite worsted weight cotton yarn (if you want to make it in a single color).

Other Free Crochet Patterns That Make Great Gifts

Make this a set by pairing it with a crochet kitchen towel

As a Christmas gift to give friends and family, I like to make them a crochet kitchen set that consists of two crochet dishcloths (one in a solid color and the other with a little change of color like adding stripes – like written in my pattern below) and a crochet kitchen towel. Even making all three items, it’s still a quick little project so I can make a few every year. I have designed a matching kitchen towel to go with this dishcloth called the Ava Crochet Dish Towel so definitely check it out if you’d like to make this a giftable set.
