On a recent, spur of the moment trip to my local Michaels, I was rewarded with spying one of the new yarns Loops & Threads is launching for the fall season this year: Loops & Threads Impeccable Plus. You may already be familiar with the Impeccable line of yarns but the Plus is a new addition that caught my eye and I knew that I had to bring it home with me to test out. So today I’ll be sharing my Loops & Threads Impeccable Plus Review with you and I’ll share my experience working with this yarn, show you some crochet swatches and what hook size I used to get the best fabric with this yarn.

Of the colours that were available at my local store, I was drawn to the green shades and mustard yellows of the Loops & Threads Impeccable Plus the most. I picked up Deep Forest Green, Forest Green and Gold. The colours compliment eachother nicely and with three balls, I feel safe knowing that I have enough on hand for a smaller project like a hat or cowl.
My first impressions of this yarn was not necessarily how it felt, it was how defined the twist of the yarn was. The twist of the plies are really pronounced and because of the size of the yarn, kind of reminded me of rope. The yarn isn’t the softest, and definitely has that mid-level acrylic soft of feel to it. It is nicer to touch in the ball than in the swatch, honestly. My hope is that with washing, it’ll soften up a bit. While crocheting with it, it felt like I was crocheting with rope.
The recommended hook size for the Loops & Threads Impeccable is a 9mm (M/N-13) hook so I did my first swatch, in the Gold with a 9mm hook. The resulting fabric is STIFF, particularly in the shorter stitches. The stitch definition is fantastic though. That pronounced twist of the yarn really helps to make those stitches pop. I wasn’t thrilled with the 9mm swatch so I tried moving up hook sizes incrementally. A 12mm hook still got me a really stiff fabric. Using a 15mm hook got me a little more drape but still not a ton but it did start to get a little holey. If I was making a hat ,I’d probably reach for the 12mm hook to start with because it would have less holes, and the resulting hat would be warmer. for a blanket, I’d start with a 15mm. These are just my observations and based on my own personal tension so give it a go and find out what you like best.
Loops & Threads Impeccable Plus would make a great basket because of how stiff it is. My first swatch made with the 9mm hook could stand up on it’s own (almost lol) so I am tempted to use what I bought for a basket. Other projects I’d consider with this yarn are slippers, rugs, blankets, cowls and maybe a hat or mittens if I can find a way to make the fabric relax a bit. If I had a choice for a project, I’d probably stick with Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick over the Loops & Threads Impeccable Plus for accessory projects but the Impeccable Plus is a little more budget-friendly.
This yarn is available for purchase from Michaels stores.

Thank you for the review. A basket is a good idea. I may consider it for a tote bag.
